Sichuan
‘Asylum’ is dedicated to Sichuan province. Passerby wrote it while travelling at night through the city lights of Chengdu, where he still felt the history of Sichuan vibrating.
The deep-rooted energy of Bashu culture, poet Li Bai and the Emei Mountain all inspired Passerby to write the song. Passerby says, “Modern times might change many things, but some things echo forever. The past and the present can coexist, as I tried to express through the song and the music video”.
In ‘Asylum’, musical elements such as the erhu from Sichuan are combined with the motifs of the Sichuan Opera.
PASSERBY:
They say the past has already happened, but sometimes, you might feel it is still happening.
Traveling through Sichuan province, in the beauty of its nature, but also in the most modern city lights, I felt the past vibrating, I felt tradition and culture that didn’t and will never fade away.
Some moments prove: the past, the present and the future, are one.
