Hubei
After dedicating the song “Be there” for Wuhan and China health workers during 2020, Praising their bravery during COVID outbreak, Gilad Passerby decided to deepen his search for the roots of the friendship value that characterize Hubei province and in China.
While searching, He learned about the story of Boya and Ziqi, The symbol of bosom friendship, and was touched especially by the refusal of Boya to continue and play the guqin musical instrument after the lose of his best friend he used to play for.
Based on the wonderful sounds of the original “high mountains flowing water”, and inspired by Hubei nature everlasting beauty, Gilad Passerby wrote a song to express Boya’s longing for his best friend, that echo’s until this day.

I was very touched by Hubei true story about Boya and Ziqi friendship: Boya used to play the Guqin musical instrument to his best friend Ziqi, imitating the sounds of nature, empowered by his true listener. When Ziqi passed away, Boya broke his musical instrument and never returned to play. This ending got me very sad, as it seem that Boya experienced the lose of their friendship, but was it really gone? As I see it, as Boya and Ziqi connected their friendship into music and nature, they gave it a way to continue after their physical life ended. As I connect my personal life with music and nature, I can only be inspired by the echo Boya and Ziqi still have. And ask myself : Maybe love connected to the infinite power of music and nature can last forever?
